The use of the municipalities' shared E-library is free of charge. The service is registered with the help of strong identification.

The e-library is a joint service of the participating municipalities and the National Library, where you can read e-books and digital magazines and listen to audio books. Imatra and the other municipalities of South Karelia that belong to the Heili libraries are included in the E-library.

- The joint e-library aims to equalize the e-materials offered by public libraries, says a library expert Ari Sareslahti from the city of Imatra.

The e-library replaces the Ellibs e-books and audiobooks and eMagz magazines currently offered by Heili libraries. Other electronic services, such as the ePress newspaper service, the music streaming service Naxos and the Cineast movie service will remain unchanged.

You do not need a library card to use the service

The e-library is authenticated with a strong authentication, so a library card is not needed. You can access the materials in the e-library without logging in, but borrowing or reserving materials requires registration.

- The loan period for books and audiobooks in the e-library is 2 weeks, and the reading time for magazines is 2 hours, says Sareslahti.

The use of the e-library is tied to the person's municipality of residence. At first, the e-library can only be used with an application that can be downloaded to a phone or tablet. A browser-based version of the service will also be implemented, but its schedule will be revealed later.
