Imatra's main library is located on the second floor of Kulttuuritalo Virtra in the Mansikkala district. The building was inaugurated in 1986.
In the main library, you can borrow and return books, music, movies, sports equipment and other library materials. You can borrow magazines at home, you can only read newspapers in the library. You can get help searching for information from the staff. You can participate in events and exhibitions or ask the staff for permission to organize your own exhibition or event. In the library, you can study, gather with your friends and spend time. You can also use computers, print, copy and scan.
You have access to a digitization workshop where you can convert, for example, VHS videos, photos and C-cassettes into digital format. You can also 3D print and read microfilm. Make an appointment with the staff!
There are five departments in the library that you can borrow from. They are the adult section, the youth section, the children's section, the music section and the magazine room. Check the online library or ask the staff in which department the works you are looking for can be found. The library also has a separate warehouse, to which only staff have access. If the work you want is a bit older and you can't find it on the shelf, it might be in stock. Ask the staff for help!
The Ticketmaster ticket office, which was located in the main library, moved to the adjacent building in the Imatra town hall in the spring of 2020.
In August 2021, the main library introduced extended opening hours, i.e. self-service. You can borrow from the library during non-working hours, even if the staff is not there.
The library premises have camera surveillance.
