You log in to customer workstations with a Heili library card and your PIN. You don't need an appointment. If you do not have a library card, the staff will open the machine with visitor IDs. The use of client computers is limited by the eBooking program (2 hours per client per day).
All machines have an internet connection and Office software (Word, PowerPoint). All machines also have headphones. You can print from the machines. Printouts are chargeable (see the price list).
Wireless network
Libraries operate a wireless network called "KirjastoOpen", which does not require a password. The databases and online magazines available in the libraries are also available on the wireless network.
Hublet tablet quote
The main library has a Hublet tablet loan office where you can borrow a tablet computer for use in the library for two hours. The tablet uses the library's wireless network. Borrowing takes place with a library card and its PIN number. See the video instructions for borrowing a Hublet.
Phone charging cabinets
There is a charging cabinet for mobile phones in the main library and Vuoksenniska. Lockable cabinets have iPhone, Micro-USB and USB-C cables. You can lock the cabinet with a four-digit PIN code of your choice. The code does not have to be the same as the PIN of your library card.
Digitization workshop and 3D printing
The main library's digitization workshop has equipment for digitizing VHS tapes, film (Normal 8 and Super 8, device brand Reflecta), photographs, slides and audio recordings (C-cassettes and LP records) and reading microfilms. A printer, scanner and image and sound processing programs are available.
You can book an appointment for the digitization workshop either on site at the main library or by calling. When making a reservation, you can ask the staff for initial guidance. Digitization and guidance are free of charge. Digitizing videos and audio recordings takes as long as the recording to be digitized: for example, it takes two hours to digitize a two-hour VHS tape. You can get the recordings yourself on a memory stick or disc. If you wish, you can buy blank CDs and DVDs from the library.
3D printing
With the library's 3D printer (Prenta 3D Duo), you can print small objects for your own use with guidance from the staff. The printing area is 20 x 20 x 20 cm in size. For printing, you need a model of the object to be printed in stl format. You can download ready-made models for free, for example From Thingiverse. You can try to design your own models Tinkercad program. The printing material is biodegradable PLA plastic, alternatively PETG and TPU material is also used. Reserve a printing time in advance at the main library. Printing is free of charge.
