For children and young people, the library offers a wide range of materials, space and events. Schoolchildren can also complete a library reading diploma.
Lapseille
The library has enough things to read, watch and listen to for people of all ages. Picture books, fairy tales, children's novels and non-fiction books can be found for those interested in adventures, animals and, for example, sports. There are children's films from Finland and around the world on DVD and Blu-ray. Children's CDs and songbooks also belong to the collection, as well as various video and board games.
Fairy tales and other events aimed at children color the life of the library. Sometimes in the children's department, you may run into the library dog Kirjavainen and the reading dogs.
The main library's Satulaakso is a cozy space suitable for a slightly larger group, where you can enjoy a puppet show, for example. On the sofas in the small rooms, you can comfortably read picture books.
For young people
The library offers young people versatile information and entertainment literature. Materials for young people, from books to magazines, films and cartoons, can be found in the main library's youth section. In the popular message tree, you can leave messages for other young people or ask questions for the library staff. The main library also has a special room for young people, Nuortenluola, where you can do homework, read, watch a movie, play video games (Wii, PS3 and PS4) or just hang out.
Young customers are asked to consider the age limits of movies and games. The library does not lend age-restricted material to customers younger than the age limit.
