The reception inspection was held yesterday, Wednesday. The operation of the renovated facility will start at full capacity in the coming weeks.

The renovation of Meltola's wastewater treatment plant is almost complete. The reception inspection of the cleaning plant was organized on Wednesday 20.12.

The inspection concerned all renovation contracts: construction, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, process automation and post-processing contracts.

The contracts passed the inspection and the city of Imatra has received the completed works.

—There are still some deficiencies and finishing works left on the site, such as ladder installations, patching of pipe penetrations and finishing of pipe and cable markings. These works are the responsibility of the contractors, water supply manager Kari Pietarinen says.

The old control room building of the wastewater treatment plant will be demolished in the spring of 2024.

Full operation of the renovated treatment plant will begin in the coming weeks. The goal is for the wastewater treatment plant to operate at full capacity by the end of January.

The total value of the received contracts is approximately EUR 15 million.

The end result is cleaner water

The renovation project started in 2017 with a preliminary plan. The construction work actually started in 2021.

In connection with the renovation, the treatment plant's technology has been completely renewed. The most significant change is the post-treatment of wastewater, which previously did not exist at all.
