According to the samples taken from the overflow water, the leak has had no effect on Vuoksi's water quality or the environment.

Due to abundant meltwater, partially treated wastewater from the Imatra wastewater treatment plant ended up in Vuo.

The results of the water samples during the bypass of Imatra's Meltola wastewater treatment plant have been completed

- From the results, it can be concluded that the partial cleaning process has worked, reducing, among other things, the amount of solid matter and total phosphorus that ends up in Vuosi, comments the water management manager Kari Pietarinen sample results from Imatra water.

The cleaning result of the partially treated wastewater has not reached the target values set as annual averages in the environmental permit conditions.

The emission has no effect on the fulfillment of environmental permit conditions measured on an annual or quarterly basis. The partial bypass of the wastewater plant has had no effect on Vuoksi's water quality or the environment.

The overflow started on Thursday 15.3. and finally ended on Sunday 17.3. at 9 in the morning

The waste water that ends up in the stream has been filtered, sand separated and pre-clarified, so it is not completely raw waste water. Treated wastewater also ends up in the stream as it flows.

- The overflow started on Thursday 15.3. in the evening at 21:00 and it is estimated that it will continue partially until tomorrow Saturday at least, says the water supply manager Kari Pietarinen From the water of Imatra.

The flow of Vuoksi is large and the partially treated wastewater that ends up in Vuoksi is not estimated to have harmful effects on people or the environment.

- A sample will be taken from the overflow at the time of the overflow, from which the water quality will be determined at the end of next week, Pietarinen continues.

There will be more information about the results of the sample and the topic during the next week.
