The empty pipe temporarily caused danger to boaters. Now boating in the area is safe again.

The decommissioned Imatra water pressure sewer pipe rose to the surface of the water on the border of Imatra and Ruokolahti in Törönlahti on Monday, June 27.6. The pipe was sunk back to the bottom on Tuesday during the morning.

The sewage pipe on the surface temporarily caused danger to boaters. The rescue service marked the pipe visibly on Tuesday so that boaters could watch out for the pipe. Now boating in the area is safe again.

The pressure drain rose to the surface, probably because gas has formed in the empty pipe.

— We don't know for sure yet, but this is our initial suspicion, Imatra Vede's water supply manager Kari Pietarinen says.
