There is already one local company committed to the area, a memorandum of understanding with two outsiders. Entrepreneurs from outside bring 70-100 jobs to the city.

Construction of the Mioni business park will begin in June in Imatra. Finland's first carbon-neutral business park was launched last spring. After this, key customer acquisition was started. As a result, the first settlement agreement is ready without signatures. In addition, two industrial companies outside Imatra have entered into a letter of intent with Imatra.

Last fallä there was a lot of interest, we held several negotiations. We are really satisfied that despite the spring corona situation, the companies believe in the future and we have moved forward, CEO of Mioni project Vetävä Mitra and Imatra Seudun Yritystilat Oy Lassi Nurmi says.

 First place Teknosafe

The first company to locate in the area is Teknosafe Oy from Imatra, which has been looking for new premises for a long time to expand its business.

We have mapped several different options.  The expansion of our operations and especially the product groups we import ourselves has made the current premises cramped. Since our strategy is based on growth in the future as well, now was the right time to make solutions regarding the premises. The decision to move to new premises is a big step for us both financially and operationally. However, we strongly believe that our own solutions will have a significant impact on the future, Teknosafe's chairman of the board Esko Metsi says.

Teknosafe is a family business from Imatra, founded in 1981, which employs 12 people. Its turnover last year was 3,4 million euros. The CEO of the company is Anna Helminen, the chairman of the city board.

Imatran Seudun Yritystilat is prepared to build premises in the business park and rent them to investors if the company does not want to own its own premises. Yrittistilat builds 1200 square meters of premises and rents them to Teknosafe. The construction costs are estimated to be 2,45 million euros and they will be collected from the tenant with capital costs in the rent.

The agreement includes that Yritytilat redeems Teknosafe's current premises in Vuoksenniska and rents them out further. The redemption price is 399 euros.

In terms of business premises, we got a stable tenant in the business park. Correspondingly, Vuoksenniska will now have good condition, viable business premises under our control. We believe that there will be takers for these premises, Nurmi states.

Significant employers come from outside

The other two companies come from outside Imatra. Both are industrial companies. They employ an estimated total of 70-100 people. These two projects are almost 6000 square meters in size.

Unfortunately, we can't yetä in the letter of intent phase reveals the names of the entrants, but the companies will certainly tell about themselves when things progress. This is a good start and will certainly encourage others who are thinking about positioning in their decision-making, Nurmi states.

In addition to these three companies that will be located, there are also active negotiations for a letter of intent with two other companies. We will return to the negotiating table as soon as the exceptional conditions ease.

The area can accommodate several companies of different sizes. The plots are divided according to the needs of the companies. A realistic estimate of the future square footage is a good 50.

To the side of the highway

Yrityspuisto is located in Korvenkanna right on the edge of Kuutosti. It borders the Lappeenranta municipal boundary on one end and the ABC station on the other.

LUT University is also involved in the implementation of the carbon-neutral business park. Next Monday, the City Council will process the guarantee application for business premises, which is related to the start of the Teknosafe project. The self-debt guarantee application matter has been dealt with before this at Yritytilat's hearing, where the application procedure was approved unanimously.

Imatra also has a reservation for another Mioni business park in Pelkola. The time for that is probably at the point when rail traffic becomes international.

The Mioni start-up campus, on the other hand, operates at Linnala school. Its development work awaits the end of the exceptional circumstances, as the campus' business acquisitions are targeted especially to Russia.
