BASIC STUDIES
Students completing basic studies attend weekly private lessons for their own instrument. In addition to that, the weekly program includes joint music-making exercises and lessons in the basics of music - in plain language, theory subjects. However, you don't have to start everything at the very beginning of your studies. Playing, progressing in it and enjoying it are number one in the order of importance! Our music teacher acts as a personal tutor in music studies. The teacher directs the student to suitable groups for joint music making and mupe.
The basic studies and the advanced studies that follow them give you the skills to start, for example, professional studies in music. However, the purpose is by no means to turn all of our students into professional musicians, but to give them a long-lasting, well-being-promoting and joyful musical relationship.
Children and young people whose domicile is Imatra, Ruokolahti, Rautjärvi or Parikkala can apply for basic studies.
Those who apply to the music school are interviewed for the mapping of musical wishes and the instrument's suitability. If the applicant is selected for the music class, he automatically gets a student place at the music college as well. These applicants are also interviewed to identify a suitable instrument.
Music college's instrument options (changes are possible):
Woodwind instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone
Brass instruments: cornet, trumpet, French horn, alto horn, baritone horn, tenor horn, tuba
String instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass
Other: electric guitar, electric bass, piano, guitar, percussion, kantele, accordion, pop/jazz vocals
Note! 12-year-olds can apply to study pop/jazz singing. and older.
In the search phase, you don't necessarily need to know which instrument would be the absolute number one. The musical wishes are mapped out in an interview, for which a personal time is reserved when filling out the application form.
