The ground floor allows air into the interior, the repair will be done in the summer. No microbial findings were revealed in the studies.

In further structural studies related to the indoor air of Linnala school cracking was observed at the joints of the pillars, outer walls and floor slab of the new side, and cracking of the floor slab in the edge areas.

- Leakage air from the ground layer below can travel inside through the cracks. This finding may be related to the indoor air symptoms experienced, says Arja Kujala, spokesman for the indoor air working group.

Building health expert RTA Kari Hassinen, from Raksystems Insinööritoimisto Oy recommends sealing the boundaries between the outer wall and the floor of the new part using the wet room waterproofing method. The repair will be done during the summer vacation.

No microbial findings or volatile compounds were found in the structural samples taken (gym) or the VOC samples of the classroom carpets (classes 131, 132, 216 and 217).

Due to the previous finding, tracer gas tests were performed in the new and old parts of the stone school to find out the tightness of the structures. In the tracer gas tests, it was found that the leakage points of the penetrations observed in the previous studies on the old part have been sealed well.

In April, the city also conducted a situation survey for staff and students. It was implemented by NindUX Oy.

OAs for the patients, the symptoms seem to be somewhat less based on the results of the survey than there have been notifications to the guardians' health nurse.

- We await the final report from the situation survey before a more detailed analysis of the results. Further reviewin me and statistics obtained from the school health nurse and occupational health care alongside the survey, Kujala says.

The extensive cleaning and repairs of the ventilation at the school during the Christmas vacation, as well as the sealing measures performed during the skiing vacation, seem to have eased the conditions.

The representatives of the indoor air working group will meet the parent committee of Linnala school on May 9.5. The research results will be reviewed at the meeting.
