The city of Lappeenranta is thinning the forest in the Repokivi area 21.-29.3.2024. While the work is in progress, it is forbidden to move on the track.

The thinning of the forest in the Repokivi area will begin on Thursday, 21.3.2024st of March XNUMX, informs the city of Lappeenranta. The goal of thinning the forest is to improve the vitality of the remaining trees, support the maintenance of the charging route and increase the comfort of the area. In thinning, part of the stand is cut down and thus the remaining stand is given room to grow and develop.

Kettle areas remain outside of treatment in the area, and in addition, untreated patches are left in the area. These actions are aimed at safeguarding the diversity values of the area and improving the living conditions of the game. The goal is to collect the branches of felled trees from the area.

Efforts have been made to schedule the work in such a way that the work would not be done during the nesting period of the birds and that it would affect the use of the trail as little as possible. It is forbidden to move on the track while the thinning works are in progress.

- The maintenance of the Rauha-Repokivi ski slope will be stopped for spring 2024, when the thinning work begins, says sports venue master Jani Niittynen from Imatran Kiinteistö- ja aluepalvelut Oy.

- Regarding other tracks, we update the current information on the Ladulle.fi service. It's a good idea to check the track situation, especially this spring, on the site in question.

The city of Lappeenranta reminds you to avoid moving around the construction site during tree felling. The safety distance to the logging machine is 90 meters. After felling, the timber and twigs are stored by the roadside. Climbing on top of the warehouses is prohibited due to the risk of collapse.
