Bench parties are held in February, senior dances in April

Imatra co-ed high school's bench party will probably take place as planned, i.e. on Thursday, February 10.

Regarding the benches, the arrangements have been made taking into account the corona situation. For example, the abishow will be streamed this year and the truck driving will take place in smaller groups so that only 20 entrants are on the stage of one car.

The school center visits are carried out only outside, so that only a smaller group of school children are there in stages to watch the distribution of candy to the graduands.

─ We hope that this decision will no longer need to be changed. The age group of high school graduates has already had to miss the senior dances because of the corona. The later the benches would have to be moved, the more difficult it would be for some to participate in them and the motivation to participate in the event would also decrease. After the matriculation exams, some are already studying for entrance exams and some start summer jobs right in the spring, principal Mika Strömberg says.

Old people dance in April

Instead, Old People's Day will be moved to April due to the connection of the pews.

The nature of the occasion is different, because avoiding contact is more difficult. 

─ Rehearsals for old dances will continue normally for another two weeks. The main reason for moving the dances is that we would like to include the audience as well. Within the current restrictions, it would not be possible in February, and the dances would only be transmitted via streaming, Strömberg says.

In addition, not many of the second-year high school students have yet had the opportunity to receive the third vaccination, unlike high school graduates who have already turned 18.

The senior dances will probably be held on 22.4.
