Face mask recommendation

• The strong mask recommendation ended on April 26.4

Schools and early childhood education

• General instructions in cases of illness:

• A person with a positive corona test result must stay in quarantine for at least five days, even if asymptomatic. If the sick person has symptoms, the quarantine should be continued until he has had at least two fever-free days.

• When the guardian states that the child has symptoms of infection, the child may not go to school or early childhood education, even if the symptoms are minor. A child's coronavirus testing should be considered if, according to the guardian's or healthcare professional's assessment, he or she has symptoms suitable for a coronavirus infection. Jif the symptoms of a child under school age are very mild, and neither the child nor a family member is known to have been exposed to a confirmed case of coronavirus and no one in the family has traveled abroad in the previous 14 days, the symptoms can be monitored at home without testing. However, a child with symptoms cannot go to early childhood education.

• • If a child has allergic rhinitis, occasional sneezing or if his nose starts running when he goes outside, but the symptoms stop indoors, the child can go to school or early childhood education, as long as his general condition is otherwise normal and there are no symptoms of infection. A runny nose associated only with outdoor activities, temperature changes and active movement is a common symptom and is not a sign of infection.
  • If the symptoms disappear completely during home monitoring, the child under school age does not need to be tested, but can return to early childhood education after one symptom-free day.
  • If the test is taken and the test result is negative, the child can return to school or early childhood education when he is on the mend, even if the symptoms have not completely subsided.

• In unclear situations, you can contact emergency help or health and welfare stations, where you can get instructions. Retesting should be considered on a case-by-case basis if the child's symptoms continue for a long time.

• If the child is exposed to corona

1. If an unvaccinated child is exposed to the coronavirus within the family, the child must be away from early childhood education or school for five days, even if the child has no symptoms.
2. If that's the case accidental exposure outside the home, such as in early childhood education, at school or in a hobby, and the child shows symptoms after exposure, the child must immediately leave early childhood education or community education and voluntarily avoid contact outside the home for at least five days after the symptoms appear.

• If the child has a serious underlying illness or medication (applies to children and young people regardless of age), which affects his resistance significantly, distance learning is recommended.

  In this case, the patient or his guardian can directly contact the EKKS pediatric outpatient clinic, from where the certificate can be written based on the treatment information there.

• If a relative living in the same household as the child has a severe and/or poorly balanced basic illness, it is possible for a person in a risk group to request a certificate from the treating unit that the person belongs to a risk group. The person belonging to the risk group can then use the certificate as they wish. The school has the decision-making power, the doctor cannot decide on the distance school.

• For counseling and student care receptions can come without flu or stomach flu symptoms. Adult cases and testing:

• Call the nearest welfare or health center to apply for the test. For emergency hours, call 116 117. 

• A person with a positive corona test result must stay in quarantine for at least five days, even if asymptomatic. If the sick person has symptoms, the quarantine should be continued until he has had at least two fever-free days.

• Those with a positive corona test result will receive operating instructions by text message.​

•  Those exposed to the infection should be especially careful when dealing outside the family.

• Getting the disease is equivalent to one vaccination, so you can cancel a possible corona vaccination appointment after the illness.

• There are no more restrictions on the number of people in the events.

• In normal operation (not an event), the state-specific limitation defines the state according to its size. The city instructs and supervises the implementation of space-specific restrictions. These spaces are considered to be spaces used for sports, exercise, entertainment and recreation, such as gyms, indoor exercise facilities, public saunas, indoor playgrounds and general spaces in shopping centers. Currently, there are no restrictions on the number of people in the city premises.

• Instead of a restriction, the space owner can take other safety measures, stagger the participation of visitors and/or make arrangements related to the space. Section 58d is still valid and it is the responsibility of the organizer of the activity to ensure, among other things, that different hobby groups do not meet and that staying in the premises is safe for health.

  • Event organizers are recommended to pay attention to the use of masks and general hygiene instructions. • The Koronapass is no longer in use in the premises of the city of Imatra.

• Group exercise for young people and adults is allowed indoors and outdoors. You must not come to the premises with symptoms. Masks are strongly recommended for people over the age of 12 in public sports facilities (e.g. lobbies and stands). Athletes are not required to wear a mask in training or competition situations.
• Games and matches are allowed, but the safety instructions related to the epidemic must be taken care of. Masks are strongly recommended in the stands.
• Customer service points must be equipped with protective plexes. For those working in customer service, the employer must distribute masks or protective visors to employees who have to work less than 2 meters away from other people.

Remember safety intervals and hand hygiene when doing business on site. On site, the customer of the town house serves one customer at a time. The others are waiting in the lobby. If you do business at the city hall at a place other than the plexiglass-equipped customer service desk, take a face mask from the customer service desk, which you must wear when doing business.

Avoid shaking hands, cleaning will be added

• The city of Imatra, like many other companies and organizations, recommends to its staff and school children to avoid shaking hands in meetings.
• Hand and coughing hygiene should also be taken care of in accordance with THL's instructions. The general hygiene of the premises should be taken care of.

About the coronavirus situation from the point of view of water supply

The risk of spreading the coronavirus through drinking water is very small. Water treatment, especially disinfection with chlorine, UV light and/or ozone, effectively destroys any viruses. 

Through the sputum of infected persons and apparently also to a small extent the feces, COVID-19 viruses can enter the wastewater. According to the assessment of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (TTL), the coronavirus does not pose a particular risk to those working at wastewater treatment plants. Normal protective measures against other biological risks in wastewater also prevent possible coronavirus infection. The risk of spreading the coronavirus through drinking water is very small. Contamination of raw water with viruses via sewage or directly via faeces or sputum is unlikely. If coronaviruses end up in the water plant's raw water, water treatment, especially disinfection with chlorine, UV light and/or ozone, will presumably destroy them effectively.
