This is a precautionary measure to prevent new infections in sports facilities and swimming pools.

The indoor sports facilities in the city of Imatra will be closed over the Epiphany due to the corona epidemic. The last closing day is 6.1. The gyms in the city of Imatra have been closed since the beginning of December.

The city's extended management group will decide on the further use of the premises on 5.1.

─ We are still in the acceleration phase. In sports facilities, safety intervals cannot always be guaranteed, and the use of masks is impossible, for example, in the swimming hall, head of welfare services Arja Kujala says.

The gyms were closed before Christmas because the infection situation in Imatra was the most critical in the province. Now the situation is expected to calm down. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has also reminded today, Tuesday, that restriction measures should not be lifted too quickly so that new outbreaks of infection do not arise.

According to AVI's guidelines, the maximum number of people at public events is 20 people. In private events, the maximum number of people is 10 people.
