The swimming pool will still remain closed.

In June, the city of Imatra is gradually opening indoor gyms for club activities. At that time, the sports hall, the ice rink, the Vuoksenniska gym and the dressing rooms of the Karhumäki field will be put into use.

The ice rink opens on June 8.6. and other premises 1.6. The opening of the ice rink is affected by the fact that it takes two weeks to make ice.

The swimming pool and the gymnasium of the sports hall and the running track will still remain closed. The swimming pool opens on 27.7. according to the preliminary plan. The gym and running track will be opened when the moisture damage repair is completed. The estimated opening time of the gym is 20.7. The running line will probably be put into use in the fall.

The swimming hall will not be opened in June due to the fact that we cannot ensure the implementation of safety distances of 1-2 meters in the washing and sauna areas and in the pool area. We are closely monitoring the progress of the corona situation in our region and we are still drawing the opening of July based on that, head of welfare services Arja Kujala says.

Detailed instructions on hygiene

Next week, instructions on using the facilities will be sent to all clubs that use the indoor sports facilities. Vuoksenniska's gym is the only space that can be opened for self-use. There, the number of people is at its maximum 10 one breath at a time.

Careful hand hygiene must be observed in the gym, as in all other facilities. The gym has disinfectants for cleaning the equipment. Each user disinfects the equipment before and after use.

Compliance with the instructions will be monitored for all premises. If the instructions are not followed, the facilities can be closed for health reasons.

In order to extend the usage period of annual and half-yearly gym cards, you must contact the sports hall's customer service on June 1.6. from phone 020 617 7294.

Sports events for the elderly will start

Guided exercise sessions for the elderly will be held in Ukonniemi from June 1.6 on Mondays at 13 p.m. The meeting will take place in the parking lot of the Ukonniemi arena. During the events, people move outside while observing safety intervals.

You may not enter the gym or guided exercise if you have any symptoms that indicate illness, such as cough, sore throat, fever, shortness of breath, muscle pain, stomach symptoms or headache.

Indoor gyms were closed in March due to the corona epidemic.
