The success of the measures taken is currently being monitored with repeat measurements.

During the fall semester of 2017, indoor air surveys were conducted in the stone buildings of Linnala school. The research plan was drawn up and the studies were carried out by RTA Kari Hassinen from Raksystems Insinööritoimisto Oy. The goal of the research was to find out possible indoor air pollutants and their causes.

In the studies, fiber amounts exceeding the action limit were observed in several facilities. The detected sources of fibers from the ventilation and structures of these premises have been removed during the Christmas holidays. Such were, for example, the uncoated mineral wool of the silencers of the iv system and the clear defects observed in the pipe penetrations.

―The success of the measures taken is currently being monitored with repeated measurements, says Arja Kujala, secretary of the indoor air working group.

Possible microbes were also examined from several farms with deposition dust samples. In one of these samples, in the hall of the gymnasium, a need for further investigations was found. According to preliminary information received from the researcher, no indications of damage to the structures were found in further investigations and measurements.

The research report has been distributed to the indoor air working group of the city of Imatra and the principals of the school. There is no written report available on further investigations yet.

A discussion session will be organized for Linnala school staff on February 19.2 at 14 p.m. and for children's guardians on February 19.2 at 18 p.m. in the dining hall of Linnala school about the results of the research and the measures taken based on them and to be taken later. The event will be attended by an indoor air surveyor.
