Service manager of physical and occupational therapy services Virpi Aralinna tells about remote rehabilitation:

- We have already accumulated experience in video-mediated physiotherapy and have received positive feedback from our customers. Remote rehabilitation has been found in studies to be a good and effective form of rehabilitation.

In order to receive physical therapy remotely, the customer needs an internet connection and a device with a camera, microphone and speakers. A suitable device for the purpose is, for example, a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. More detailed instructions can be found on the appointment booking page of the electronic transaction service.

Substance and mental health services available

Remote receptions are also used in family and social services; receptions of school curators, psychologists and doctors in the developmental services for children and young people are now mainly done by phone or video.

If necessary, the customer service of the children's and youth center can direct families to the telephone reception of psychologists.

Mental health and substance abuse services also have remote receptions for psychiatrists. You can book an appointment for mental health and substance abuse services from the service number (24/7) on 05 352 4610.

Treatment of mental health and substance abuse services for children and young people takes place primarily through remote contacts. Reception visits are carried out face-to-face, however, when it is necessary for the treatment. The doctor responsible for the treatment and the responsible worker keep in touch with the child, young person and their family as agreed and, if necessary, make an assessment of patient visits.

Director of Family Services Tarja Nylund urges parents to contact with a low threshold:

- You can get in touch with your responsible employee by calling him directly or by leaving a contact request at the customer service of the House of Children and Youth, tel. 05 352 2360 on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 15 p.m.

Appointments are currently reserved for pregnant women and children aged 0-1 years, as well as for family planning at the discretion of the counseling service. The psychiatric weekly department for young people operates normally, and in cases of substance abuse for young people, contact is primarily made with the employee responsible or the customer line of the House of Children and Youth.

The contacts of the babysitters are primarily carried out remotely. You can make an appointment with the babysitters by calling them on weekdays between 9 and 10 a.m. Contact information for childminders and up-to-date information on all Eksoten services can be found on the website www.eksote.fi.
