Water supply services include water procurement and distribution, wastewater management, pumping and cleaning, as well as contract, invoicing and customer service matters.
Imatran Vesi operates as an accounting-separated balance sheet unit of the City of Imatra.
Water is procured mainly from groundwater resources. The groundwater of Hiekkoinlahti and the surface water of Immalanjärvi are treated at the Immala water plant. After the commissioning of the Imatra–Joutseno connecting water pipeline and the associated Myllypuro groundwater abstraction, the share of surface water in Immalanjärvi has been about 5% of the produced water volume.
The construction of the current water and sewer network of Imatra Vesi started in 1949. The water supply network consists of a 325 km long water main network and a 370 km long sewer network (waste and rainwater).
In addition to the operational area of Imatra's water distribution, Imatran Vesi sells approximately 8000 m³ of water to the Jääski water cooperative and approximately 4000 m³ to the water supply cooperative of the Ahola region.
For exceptional situations, connecting water pipes were built from Imatra Vesi's water supply network to Ruokolahti's downtown area in 2005 and through Ruokolahti's Oritlampi to the Rautjärvi station area in 2003.
Wastewater is treated at the Meltola wastewater treatment plant, which was completed in 1981, where, in addition to Imatra's own wastewater, wastewater from Ruokolahti, Rautjärvi station region and Rauha–Tiuru and Korvenkylä areas on Lappeenranta's side is piped. The renovation of the Meltola wastewater treatment plant was completed in 2024.
