Ukonniemi playground climbing frame and slide. — The construction work in the Ukonniemi playground area includes, among other things, the planting of trees.

Construction work will be carried out at the Ukonniemi playground 17.-28.6.2024

Planting work is underway during Midsummer week 17.–20.6.2024, which is why the playground is closed.

Construction work on the Ukonniemi playground will start on Monday, 17.6.2024. Construction work is being done in the area weekdays at 7.00-18.00 o´clock. The construction works being carried out now include the construction of the foundations of the multi-purpose field and the outdoor exercise area, as well as the planting of trees.

- We plant pine trees in the area, which are moved from the nearby area. They thrive best in a dry and toasty area, says the city gardener Erika Luhtanen from the city of Imatra.

A meadow suitable for a dry place will also be established in the area, and in addition to that, shelter grass will be sown, which will support the growth of perennial flowers.

The area will be completed by the end of August

In the area next to the playground, the construction of an outdoor exercise area and a multipurpose field suitable for various ball games will begin. First, the foundations are made, after which the work continues with the construction of the outdoor fitness area and multi-purpose field, the construction of lighting and landscaping. As a whole, the construction works in the area will be completed by the end of August.

The site area of the outdoor fitness center and the multi-purpose field will be strictly demarcated for the duration of the construction work.

- The playground can be used during the construction of the outdoor fitness center and the multi-purpose field. The construction of the fields is limited to the outside of the playground and the construction site area is delimited by fences, says Luhtanen.
