The first 30 minutes can be cycled for free in the coming summer as well.

City bikes will appear in Imatra's street scene at the end of April, and city bikes can be rented from stations located around Imatra starting on May Day. The cycling season lasts at least until the end of October.

Imatra has received a lot of positive feedback about the city bikes. The number of trips by city bikes has been on the rise, and in the summer of 2023 there were significantly more bike users than in previous years. One of the reasons for the growth of city bike trips is the 30-minute driving time offered by the city.

- Also in the coming summer, the city bike can be used for half an hour free of charge. In addition, on the city bike day of cycling week on Friday 3.5. you can ride the bikes for free for an entire hour, says the traffic engineer Aino Vuopio From the city of Imatra.

The port of Imatra is the new station

The number of city bikes and stations has been increased for the summer of 2024. There are 40 city bikes in Imatra, and their stations are located in Imatrankoski, Mansikkala, Ukonniemi, Sienimäki, Karhumäki and Vuoksenniska.

There are a total of 15 stations for city bikes, which is one more than in 2023. The new station is the port of Imatra. It is also possible to move city bike stations to, for example, event areas.

- If, for example, the event organizer wants to encourage the participant to move sustainably, we can together figure out moving the bike station to the venue, says Vuopio.

With the city bicycle system, the city of Imatra promotes the sustainable movement of citizens and tourists in the city. In the summer of 2024, Kaakau Oy will be responsible for the delivery and maintenance of the bikes. The city bike will be put into use With the Donkey Republic app.
