The new carpooling app makes it easier to find shared rides

In the service, anyone can offer and search for carpools.

Offering and searching for carpools will become easier with the new application. In the new Kimppakyydit application, anyone can offer a ride to other users.

—You can go to the service to mark your own work trip, for example. The application is informed of the route and the time when the trip is planned to be driven by the project leader Tanja Nyholm Go to South Karelia! - about the project.

Other users can contact the ride provider through the application. After that, you can agree on the details of the ride, for example, where the rider jumps on the ride over the phone.

In the service, rides are offered in a non-professional manner. The application automatically calculates the estimated fuel costs of a one-way trip for each notification. The advertiser decides whether he proposes to halve the costs, whether he hopes the rider pays all the costs, or whether the driver offers the ride for free.

—The parties agree on payment in the way that suits them best, says Nyholm.

The service can be found at Kimppakydit.com

The application has been acquired as part of Hinku in South Karelia! project. The project promotes rural carbon neutrality and a climate-friendly lifestyle. A project financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The project period is from spring 2020 to the end of 2022. The implementers are the regional environmental activities of Imatra and Lappeenranta.
