The largest playground in Imatra is being built in Ukonniemi
The construction work of the first part of the activity park, the playground, planned for the area of the old Taimitarha in Ukonniemi, has started with clearing the trees and moving the earth masses.
- Now branches have been chopped off in the area. Earthworks will be done this fall; foundation works for walkways, playgrounds and lighting. The former camping area will be renovated into a parking area for the activity park. The installation of the actual playground equipment will begin in the spring, says the city gardener Erika Luhtanen.
150 euros had been reserved for the design and construction of the playground this year. In addition, the city received a state grant of 000 euros for the project. 45 euros have been reserved for construction in the coming year's budget.

Ukonniemi activity park
New activities have been created in the area of the former nursery by collecting ideas from the townspeople and organizing spatial planning idea competition with Lappset Oy. Its winning idea, the activity park Luck, serves as the basis for the general plan of the activity park to be drawn up in the area. The general plan was prepared by VSU Landscape Architects Oy, which also designed the playground that is now being built.

The use of the neighboring dog park is impossible for dogs and adults in the summer because of the millions of smokers. For small children, potholes are an even greater nuisance.
