The School of Visual Arts organizes basic visual arts education in accordance with the curriculum approved by the Board of Education. The teaching is based on the law on basic art education, and it refers to art education that takes place outside of primary school, in which participation is voluntary. The teaching gives expressive skills to young people heading to different fields of visual arts, and increases the opportunities for children and young people to understand and enjoy visual art culture.
The visual arts school has one full-time and one part-time teacher. The teachers are visual arts professionals by training.
The students of the visual arts school are 6-18 years old. Studies at the visual arts school can be started at any age.
Teaching takes place in groups with students of the same age. The school's language of instruction is Finnish. Students who speak other than Finnish as their mother tongue are also accepted.
Teaching groups meet once a week, in the afternoons and evenings. Teaching takes place in Tainio's house of arts.
