Senior Citizens' Week is celebrated in Imatra 7.-13.10.2024

The national week for the elderly starts next Monday with the theme Good everyday life, good mood.
Imatra's elderly council together with the Imatra parish has put together a program according to the week's theme from Monday to Sunday.

— We have thought of themes suitable for the week for the elderly, and the program will be diverse, says the elderly council Irma Hujanen.

Monday 7.10. Kulttuuritalo Virta has Safe Everyday Day from 9 o'clock.

— During the morning, with a low threshold, you can ask questions about everyday online transactions and home security that you have wondered. There will be representatives from the police, the bank, the rescue service, EKHVA's Isoapu and the new Jouko public transport, Hujanen says.

In the midst of everyday life, there is also reason to celebrate

Wednesday is the elderly people's week celebration at Kulttuuritalo Virta. The guests of the party will be served coffee, performances, sing-alongs, and the prize for senior citizen of the year will be awarded at the event.

The free party starts at 12 o'clock with a coffee service and the program itself starts at 13 o'clock.

A good mood also includes exercise and friends

— On Thursday, there is a "Move with us" event aimed at the elderly at the Ukonniemi arena, where you can try different forms of exercise on activity bars. With the event, we also move into the indoor sports season and the indoor jumps that start the following week, Irma mentions.

Friday 11.10. It's Friendship Day in Olavinkulma.

— Every one of us needs friends, and after the lecture by logotherapist Tuula Katainen, we will be presenting neighborly service and friend activities, in which we would love to see more participants, Hujanen says.

In Tainionkoski church, hymns of hope are heard on Tuesday of the week for the elderly, and Sunday is the church holiday for the elderly.
