Rapid melting waters streets and fields

The rapid warming of the air and the resulting melting of snow are now causing challenges for traffic and sports facilities.
- Melting is now really fast and puddles are formed. The light traffic lanes are really slippery in places. We're trying to sand and remove water, but there's no way we can get to everything at once, foreman Jarmo Varjus Imatra's real estate and regional service (Kipa) tells.
He urges motorists to slow down when approaching puddles. 
- Splashing water is an unpleasant surprise for pedestrians.

Skating season over

Spring came with a bang to outdoor sports venues as well. All skating rinks were closed today, Tuesday 14.3. due to ice melting.
