For the Participate and influence program, the city of Imatra asked residents in the summer of 2021 how they want to participate and influence the city's activities.

89 townspeople responded to the online survey

Most of all, the respondents wanted to influence the maintenance of streets, parks and other public areas. Next, the people of Imatra most wanted to influence housing and cultural and sports services, each equally strongly.

The least wanted was to influence administration, marketing, business affairs and early childhood education.

However, the majority of respondents thought it was unclear how to participate and influence the city's affairs. More of the respondents were more interested in influencing the affairs of their own residential area than the entire city. Still, less was known about the means of influencing the affairs of one's own residential area than about influencing the city as a whole.

Among the methods of participation, the respondents most supported those that are already in use and tested. The most supported was reacting to customer feedback and, secondly, conducting opinion polls on matters to be decided. The idea of ​​dealing with the city's affairs through drama and playing an economic game with the city's budget gained the least support. 

One third of the respondents lived in the eastern part of Vuoksi. Almost half of the entire population of Imatra lives east of Vuoksi. 

The average age of the respondents was 44 years, 78% of them were women.
