Overview
The Senior Citizens' Council held five meetings during 2024.
The chairman of the Senior Citizens' Council changed. The first meeting of the year
was led by Sanna Prior, after which Lilla Saaristo continued as chairman.
Initiatives
The Senior Citizens' Council did not submit any initiatives in 2024, but prepared a broader initiative to improve the position of senior citizens in Imatra. The initiative is
intended to leave in early 2025.

The Council of Elders issued the following statements:

Senior Citizens' Association of the Year Award
The Senior Citizens' Council decided to award the Imatra Senior Citizens' Event of the Year award to Maili Hanski. The public had nominated Maili Hanski.
as a recipient of recognition already in the year the award was established, 2023. Hanski has done long-term work, especially with veterans, and has helped a lot
vulnerable elderly people, including those suffering from substance abuse problems. The Council for the Elderly was unanimous in its decision.
Events
The Senior Citizens' Council began school cooperation by participating in four different ninth-grade lessons at Mansikkala School, where they discussed the life cycle and the good life. The goal has been to present a communal perspective that includes the elderly.
Members of the Imatra Senior Citizens' Council represented the Senior Citizens' Council at the caregivers' market tour on August 14.8th at the Imatrankoski market square and on August 30.8th.

On Imatra Day, 24.8 August, the Senior Citizens' Council organised a "Valuable Old Age Bingo" in Neppari, highlighting important issues for the elderly. The bingo was
intended for people over 65 and was played by about 50 people. Bingo brought up issues that are important to the elderly. Bingo was also played during Seniors Week
At the "Liiku kansannamme" event, where there were again about 50 players.

There was a slightly larger program this week than before. The number of visitors was the same as in previous years or even higher, except for the new program “Safe
"Everyday" event, the number of attendees of which fell short of the target.
