Two new trucks for Imatra KIPA

Release
19.4.2022 18:16

The fleet of Imatra Real Estate and Area Service KIPA has been supplemented with two new road maintenance trucks. The new cars are Volvo FM D13 8x4 4-axle trucks.

In the winter season, they are used as road maintenance trucks in the winter maintenance of the street network, for example for plowing snow, combating slippage, removing debris and transporting snow.

—Car undercarriage blades can be used to remove debris and thus partially replace graders, Kipa's CEO Markku Puuska says.

In the summer, cars are used for moving earth at construction sites.

The new cars replace the old 1988 and 1998 road maintenance cars.

—These new cars have significantly more power than the old ones and their handling is also completely different. The functions of the cars are controlled using several computer units. You could compare that the difference is the same significant than the difference between the first push-button phones and modern touchscreen phones, says Puuska.

The cars were purchased with 7-year leasing financing. The annual cost of leasing one car is around 30 euros.

A competition to name the cars

Since the new cars are a significant improvement to KIPA's fleet, we want to name the cars. A competition was organized to name the cars.

The competition period ended on Sunday 17.4. 319 proposals were given for both cars.

The results of the competition will be announced immediately after the selection has been made by the jury. The jury will select the winners shortly.

The selected names are taped to the sides of the cars and the people who submitted the winning proposal are rewarded with product prizes.

In addition, from the name suggestions for both cars, two suggestions will be awarded with honorable mentions and product awards.
