Niina Kupiainen encourages adults to be present and care. About every young person.

The spirit of the times is heavy now. While Korona was already beginning to be the snow of last winter, the news stream was filled with shocking war news. In the youth barometer announced two weeks ago, the increased climate anxiety among young people came to the fore. Then you still have to bear your own worries and the pressures of the social media world.

Now it would be important that young people are offered the best possible and peaceful growth environment. This is helped by the small and big actions of adults. Special attention should be paid to the fact that young people are not generally stigmatized in those contexts where negative things done by individuals are discussed. Most of the young people are completely innocent and outsiders. Violent acts are always scary and threatening for them too, maybe even more so than for adults.

Professionals working with young people gathered a week ago to discuss the current issues and phenomena of young people in Imatra. The youth services of the city of Imatra regularly convenes the youth guidance and service network and various regional working groups.

Recently, there has been an extensive discussion both in the public and among professionals about the increase in vandalism and violence. We work with young people every day at youth facilities, in groups and schools, as well as at motorcycle garages and digitally on social media platforms. Imatra has a strong tradition of network work, so current information about the phenomena of the time flows well.

Youth work professionals have intensified information exchange, planning and concrete cooperation. At the moment, together with Eksote, we are launching group activities aimed at young people who are intoxicated. Vuoksenniska's motorbike stable has started up and the Imatra parish has started a free Walk in therapy at the corner of the Youth.

The arrangements for the music event that young people want are also already underway. Youth facilities operating in schools reach visitors well and receive good feedback from young people - also about the location. Mansikkala is currently experimenting with the distribution of wasted food on farm nights.

Experience experts and a living library are coming to school centers in April. We are now planning trips and activities during the holidays, corona permitting. We are also working on planning the arrivals for the spring event days.

Organizations produce versatile hobby and participation activities for young people, and school youth work and student welfare make for close cooperation. In April, the Ketju working group organizes a Worry Club, the first topic of which is extreme phenomena.

Here were a few highlights from current issues in the field of youth work. Activities and activities are produced more and more multi-professionally and in cooperation with different actors.

Youth services are primarily based on the wishes and needs of young people, and they live in time and place, just like young people.

The turbulent world situation should now be calmed down and focus on being present adults. With our words and actions, we show young people an adult model. Let's take it easy now, avoid confrontations, take concrete actions to improve cooperation and also remember to listen to what young people have to say.

There are never too many trustworthy adults. Let's all be the whole city in support of our young people.
