The parking inspector returns to Imatra's street scene
Parkingä will be monitored again at Imatra. At the beginning of February, a new parking inspector will start working for the city.
─ Parking enforcement will continue to be done part-time, a few hours a day. The inspector's work also includes office work assisting urban development, city engineer Päivi Ala-Vannesluoma says.
Surveillance work is not new in the city, but for the last year it has hardly been possible to do it, when the previous parkinginspector moved on to other duties.
Feedback on the lack of supervision
There are many reasons for restarting monitoring. First of all, the city must carry out the supervisory task as required by the Regional Administration Office's permit.
─ We have also received feedback about parking problems, especially from our contractual partners. The city has agreements with various property owners regarding parking enforcement. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to implement these contractual obligations in the desired way recently, Ala-Vannesluoma states.
The inspector's work input will be used in different parts of the city, for example for escorting school centers. Shelters are still used, for example, in connection with the Mansikkala school center for parking cars instead of just stopping, which in turn causes occasional traffic jams and dangerous situations in morning and afternoon traffic.
Three month trial
The part-time parking inspection will now start as an experiment. After three months, the need for supervision will be assessed again.
