A third of the eligible voters from Imatra voted in advance. On election day, you can vote at the polling station in your area.

The actual election day for the regional elections is Sunday, January 23.1.

At that time, you can vote at the polling station of your own voting area.

—Imatra is divided into five voting districts. The Digital and Population Information Center has sent information about the voting area and place in December to those entitled to vote, either by post or electronically, the secretary of the Central Election Commission Terhi Karttunen says.

The polling stations open on Sunday at 9 a.m. and close at 20 p.m. You need a valid ID.

A mask recommendation is valid at the polling stations and voters are advised to take care of safety intervals.

If a person entitled to vote is in quarantine or isolation ordered by a doctor on Sunday, he can vote in the yard of the polling place.

—Then the voter must call the election authority. The phone number can be found on the poster outside each polling place, says Karttunen.

On Sunday, the council of the welfare area will be elected

Sunday's regional elections are the first ever regional elections. In the elections, 59 regional councilors will be elected to the council of the welfare region of South Karelia.

The welfare region will be responsible for the organization of social, health and rescue services in South Karelia from the beginning of 2023. The regional council is the highest decision-making body of the welfare region.

There are no municipality-specific quotas in the council, but the councilors represent the entire welfare area. Candidates running for office can be found from this link.

Early voting for the regional elections ended on Tuesday, January 18.1.

33,3% of those entitled to vote in Imatra went to vote in advance, according to data maintained by the Ministry of Justice results service.

In the entire province, 29,3% voted in advance.
