Guidance on corona exposure for children

Release
18.1.2022 19:40
Anyone with a positive coronavirus test result must remain in quarantine for five days. If the sick person has symptoms, the quarantine should be continued until he has had at least two fever-free days.

The provincial situation picture group clarified THL's recommendation on corona exposure situations in early childhood education, schools and educational institutions.

─ We instruct families to act according to whether it is a case of intense exposure within the family or occasional, low-risk exposure that occurs outside the home, stated Eksoten's chief physician Sami Raasakka.

If the child is exposed at home or elsewhere

If an unvaccinated child is exposed to the coronavirus within the family, the child must be away from early childhood education or school for five days, even if the child has no symptoms.

If that's the case accidental exposure outside the home, such as in early childhood education, at school or in a hobby, and the child shows symptoms after exposure, the child must immediately leave early childhood education or community education and voluntarily avoid contact outside the home for at least five days after the symptoms appear.

Eksote no longer informs schools or daycare centers about corona infections. Consequently, no information about exposures is sent home from schools or kindergartens.

If the test result is positive

With a positive corona test result must stay in quarantine for at least five days, even if asymptomatic. If the sick person has symptoms, the quarantine should be continued until he has had at least two fever-free days.

Those with a positive corona test result will receive operating instructions by text message.

Those with a positive corona test result should inform all people he has met about the risk of infection, starting two days before symptoms appear.

The persons met should be instructed to immediately apply for a corona test or take a home test if they develop flu-like symptoms. Those exposed to the infection should be especially careful when dealing outside the family.

Getting the disease is equivalent to one vaccination, so you can cancel a possible corona vaccination appointment after the illness.
