Imatrankoski will be lit up orange on Thursday

The goal draws attention to violence against women. Next week, the rapids will be lit up in blue and white in honor of Independence Day.

Imatrankoski will be illuminated on Thursday 25.11 November. to orange. The arrest is part of the Orange Days campaign organized by UN Women, which aims to end violence against women.

On Thursday, buildings will be lit up orange in several other Finnish cities as well. At Imatra, the campaign is organized by Imatra's Soroptimists.

— With the orange-lit rapids, we want to draw people's attention to violence against women. The Orange Days campaign promotes the end of violence and harassment against women. Every third woman has experienced sexual or physical violence, this should be treated with the seriousness it deserves. The color orange symbolizes hope for a world without violence, says the president of the Imatra club of Soroptimists Mariella Pirkka.

The association encourages everyone to participate in the campaign by dressing in shades of orange. Koskiuoma glows orange until Saturday 4.12 December. until. Size kthe campaign ends on December 10.12, when the national Soroptimist Day is celebrated.

Thursday 25.11. Koskenpartaa will also organize a Light, not violence event from 16 to 18 p.m. The event defends women's human rights, bodily integrity and the right to a life free of violence. You can bring a candle to the event in front of the stage in Koskenparta in memory of the women who perished in violence. The seizure is organized by the Finnish National Violence Observatory.

Imatrankoski will also be illuminated next week. Koskiuoma will be lit up in blue and white colors in honor of Independence Day 5—6.12.

On Independence Day, there will also be a rapids show at 17 p.m. The show will use blue and white lights and the music will be Sibelius's Finlandia.

Soroptimists

Soroptimist International (SI) is a worldwide voluntary organization of women representing different professions, cultures and countries, which defends human rights, peace and democratic decision-making. It especially promotes the status and equality of women and girls by training and encouraging them for new tasks.

Soroptimists work in cooperation with local, national and international communities and strive to influence decision-making in different parts of society. The organization does not take a position on party political or religious issues. The driving force behind the organization's activities is international goodwill, understanding, friendship and togetherness.

Soroptimist International has consultative status with the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Soroptimist representatives also participate in the meetings of the Council of Europe and the European Women's Lobby (EWL).

SI Imatra, or Imatra's club, was founded in 1967 and has 24 members. The club collects funds for pre-existing projects, primarily for children and youth from Imatra, as well as for international projects in developing countries.
