The provincial situation group has outlined today, Tuesday 23.11 November, that South Karelia on the spread area of ​​the corona epidemic. In the province, the epidemic situation is worst in Imatra.

Becoming a spillover zone means that there will presumably be restrictions on restaurants next week. These will be announced in more detail later, when the national policies are clear.

─ There are no gathering restrictions related to public events yet, but they can be expected. If this happens, the city of Imatra is ready to introduce corona passports at public events organized on our premises, welfare manager Arja Kujala says.

The area of ​​spread also means that a strong mask recommendation returns to schools for everyone over the age of 12. A strong mask recommendation for adults is also in effect in early childhood education starting tomorrow, Wednesday.

─ More masks will be delivered to schools as quickly as possible. There are plenty of them in the city's warehouse, Kujala states.

In order not to delay disease tracking, residents of South Karelia are advised to apply for a test quickly if they experience symptoms and suspect they have been exposed to the coronavirus.

The corona team of the city of Imatra meets on Thursday and plans, among other things, the Christmas parties of schools and kindergartens.
