Abandoned cars are cleared from the streets

At Imatra, cars abandoned on the sides of the streets and in parking lots are cleared.

Cars that appear to be abandoned are given a paper transfer request. In addition, the owners of license plate cars are sent a transfer request by post on the same day that the car is registered.

After the paper removal notice attached to the car, the car owner or holder has 7 days to move their car. If the car is not moved, the city will move the car to the pit area.

For cars moved by the city, an invoice for 175 euros will be sent to the owner or holder of the car.

- You should move a car that has received a transfer request yourself. The car can be delivered to any official collection point for scrapping free of charge. The list of points can be found on the city's website, traffic planner Kaisa Pohjola says.

Cars transferred by the city can be claimed back within 30 or 60 days of the transfer. Instructions for redemption can be found in the city from the website.

Abandoned cars can be reported to the city

Moving cars that appear to be abandoned is based on the law on moving vehicles (828)2008). The city takes care of moving cars from public areas that are controlled by the city.

Abandoned cars along the roads managed by the ELY center can be reported to the ELY center.
