The main entrance of the new school center is at the end of Sulkukuja. Escort transport for older students also passes through it. The smallest students can be brought to school from the Kanavakatu side.

The traffic arrangements of the Koski school center will change with the renewal of the school center.

In the future, only students studying in the old high school building will take the old route along Kanavakatu. Preschoolers, 1st and 2nd graders and some 3rd and 4th graders study in the Lyceum building.

- The drop-off point is along Kanavakatu on the right side of the street, city engineer Päivi Ala-Vannesluoma says.

Escort traffic for students studying in other buildings goes through Sulkukuja. The drop-off place is between the parking lot on the Sulkukuja side and the forest module.

Vehicle traffic on both Kanavakatu and Sulkukuja is one-way. The main door of the school center is located on the Sulkukuja side.

Private parking spaces for bicycles, mopeds and staff cars

The bicycle parks are at the end of the school center on the Kanavakatu side and on the edge of the school area on the Vuoksi side.

The moped park is on the wall on the Vuok side of the main school. You drive to the moped park along Koulukellonkuja, which turns from Kanavakatu. Koulukellonkuja is otherwise only permitted for service driving, and motor vehicles cannot drive along it until Sulkukuja.

The stops of bus lines 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 along Imatrankoskentie will continue to serve Koski schoolchildren. The new stops of line 6 running from Perä-Meltola to Itä-Siitola along Vuoksentie will also be put into use.

The parking area intended for staff vehicles is at the end of Sulkukuja. The staff can also park in the parking lots along Kanavakatu.

Be careful on the way to school

A group of new students will move to Koski school center for the coming school year. You should practice walking the school route with your children in advance.

- At the same time, it's good to repeat the principles of safe traffic behavior with the child: bikes are always on the right side and you shouldn't ride parallel. Those who move on foot must also make sure that other pedestrians can also pass, Ala-Vannesluoma reminds.

Those coming from the direction of Rajapatsa should take note of the ongoing bridge construction and exercise special caution. You can walk and cycle through the bridge construction site, but vehicle traffic is cut off in the construction site area.

Those coming from the direction of Imatrankoski must drive especially carefully, especially on the Imatrankoski bridge.

Flashing lights reminiscent of small movers have been installed near the Koski school center. The speed limit for cars near the school center is 40 km/h and 30 km/h at the so-called high school bend.

- Other traffic safety works are coming. For example, a preliminary investigation to improve the traffic safety of the Imatrankoski bridge is about to begin, Ala-Vannesluoma says.

The fall semester starts in Imatra schools on Wednesday, August 11.8. Detailed information about getting to know the school and the schedules of the first school days will be sent to guardians via Wilma.
