After a long wait, the people of Imatra will finally have their own dog park.

The new dog park will open next week if the finishing works and signs are completed as planned. Ukonniemi's new dog park is located in the area of the former nursery along Kivimiehenkuja. The park is 3 square meters in size and the park has separate areas for big and small dogs. The area will soon be ready and the park will be opened for use next week.

The dog park is an area reserved for dogs and walkers, where dogs are kept free and allowed to play with each other. However, the responsibility for the dog and its behavior always rests with the walker, and the walker must always be present in the enclosure.

City gardener Erika Luhtanen also calls for the responsibility of the owners in the maintenance of the dog park.

- The cleanliness of the dog park is the responsibility of its users. Equipment for cleaning, such as a shovel and a rake, will be provided in the park, with which each dog owner will take care of the cleanliness and comfort of the area by collecting the waste in the trash can. There will also be an information board in the area, which explains the rules and instructions of the dog park.

For example, the walker must also take care that the dog does not dig holes in the park, as they create a safety risk and can cause accidents.

Security problems and vandalism should be reported to the city's customer service on 020 617 2253 or customer serviceatimatra.fi (customer service[at]imatra[dot]fi)

The entrance to the dog park is from the side of the forest, via the Kivimiehenkuja exit.
