Next Wednesday you can get to know Imatra's urban forests

On Thursday, a trip to the forests of continuous cultivation in Joutseno Ahola will be organized.

In the Imatra forest trip, the topics of the trip are Ukonniemi's different age education and its natural renewal, Mellonmäki's different afforestation of fields and Lempuk's small-hole cutting and its natural regeneration.

The sites are presented by Matti Luostarinen, forestry engineer of the city of Imatra.

- The meeting place is next to the Karhumäki Pump Track on Wednesday 16.6 June. at 10 o'clock. The trip takes about three hours in total. Whenever possible, you should use carpools, says project manager Anna-Maija Wikström. His pilot Hinkua to South Karelia! - the project organizes a forest trip.

Thursday 17.6. you can get to know the continuously cultivated forests of the Tyynälä farm located in Joutseno.

On the Tyynälä farm, continuous forest cultivation is practiced, which aims to utilize the best known methods to maximize productivity, carbon storage, diversity, and landscape and recreation values.

- On the trip, we will do a few kilometers long cross-country tour in Tyynälä's different types of forests guided by experts and we will consider different processing options. There is a forester Jussi Saarinen Metsätietopalvelu from Silmu, Wikström says.
