He will receive the post of city manager after a month of orientation.

Monday's city council will discuss the manager's contract for the new city manager. It has been agreed in the negotiations that the new city manager Ari Lindeman is about to start employed by the city on September 1.9.2021, XNUMX during the orientation period.

He will take over the position of mayor (vs.) on 29.9. from when the current mayor Kai Roslakka will be on annual leave.

Lindeman would start in the permanent position of mayor on March 1.3.2022, XNUMX, if the city council's decision regarding the selection has gained legal force. Complaints about the decision have been filed with the administrative court. If the case is still being processed there, Lindeman will continue to lead the city as an acting official from the beginning of March until the case is resolved.

If the decision regarding the appointment does not reach legal force, Lindeman's employment will end.

─ The negotiations progressed smoothly with a good understanding. The big main principles of the agreement had already been decided in the council's section on the election of the mayor, so there were not many details to agree on in the negotiations between Lindeman and the presidents of the mayor's office, Anna Helminen, chairwoman of the mayor's office, says.

The mayor's contract is designed according to the terms of the current manager's contracts, in which 12 months' severance pay has been agreed upon.

A return to the single-leader model

During the end of 2021, the city will switch to the management system of one mayor. At that time, the post of deputy mayor will be relinquished and two other posts belonging to the city's highest office-holder management will be established separately under the mayor. The chairpersons of the city board will hold negotiations with the deputy city manager Kaisa Heino about his continuation according to the manager's contract.

The transition to the new management system requires that the preparation of the administrative rules and new posts be started immediately after the council term changes in August. The goal is for the transition to the new management system to take place from November 1.11.2021, XNUMX.
