The introduction of electric buses will be postponed to next year, the temporary fleet will be driven by familiar drivers.

At the beginning of June, yellow and white buses with the city's logos will appear on the streets of Imatra. These buses run local traffic for at least a year.

The city decided in January, after the competition, to change VS Bussipalvelut Oy as the local transport producer. Imatra is completely switching to electric buses.

The two companies that participated in the competition appealed the decision to the market court. We have to wait until the end of this year for this decision.

─ Since it is a necessary service for city residents, we have the right to enter into a temporary contract. It has now been done with VS Bus Services until we get a solution from market law, city engineer Päivi Ala-Vannesluoma says.

At least a year for electric buses

If the Market Court gives permission to enter into an agreement with VS Bussipalvelu, the electric buses will be placed on order.

Their procurement time is about eight months, so getting electric buses to Imatra will take at least a year.

Although the temporary buses look different from before, the drivers are familiar.

─ All Pohjolan Liikente drivers who wanted to will transfer to our service in June, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VS Bus Services Turkka Tuomi says.

By bus to swim in Ukoska and to the port

Summer schedules come into effect on June 6.6. They largely follow the schedules of previous summers, but two route changes have been made at the request of the users.

─In the summer, the vito line turns around in the harbor at Ankkur once an hour. This way it is possible to get to the port services by bus. There will also be stops at the beach during the summer, the traffic planner says Kaisa Pohjola says.

Another summer change is that line 3 runs all shifts in the summer so-called shop shift via Keskuskatu. We will return to the old route again in the fall, when the route goes through the familiar swimming hall and Mansikkala school.

Summer shifts were discussed today in the urban development board
