Eksote opens electronic appointment booking for corona vaccinations for three new groups

Release
13.4.2021 20:26
South Karelia's social and health district Eksote has opened today, April 13.4.2021, 65, an electronic appointment for corona vaccinations for everyone over 16, all 64-1-year-olds belonging to risk group 50, and all 64-2-year-olds belonging to risk group XNUMX.

Eksote opened the electronic appointment booking for corona vaccinations through Eksote's transaction service for the first time on Monday, April 12.4.2021, 60. Electronic appointment booking was initially opened for people aged 69–1 belonging to risk groups 2 and 13.4.2021. On April XNUMX, XNUMX, the right to book an appointment will be extended to new groups to be vaccinated.

- The number of groups to be vaccinated can be increased, because we have received more vaccines and now it seems that all the given times will not yet be filled by previous groups, says the nurse in charge of corona vaccinations at Eksoten Sari Receipt.

Weekend times also available

Vaccination appointments can be booked at IsoKristiina in Lappeenranta and at ToriGalleria in Imatra. In Lappeenranta, the first bookable appointments can be found from 15.4 and in Imatra from 28.4. The service may experience intermittent congestion and slowness due to service load.

At IsoKristiina in Lappeenranta, everyone over the age of 17.4 will be vaccinated with AstraZeneca on Saturday 18.4 April and Sunday 65 April. Weekend appointments can be booked by all residents of South Karelia over the age of 65.

Follow the situation on the corona vaccinations page

Eksote is actively updating its corona vaccination website. More information about vaccinations, groups to be vaccinated and instructions for arriving for vaccination can be found on Eksoten's website: eksote.fi/koronarokotukte

- Through the page, we actively inform about changes, for example, groups entitled to make an appointment and vaccination dates. We understand that not everyone has the opportunity to follow the situation through electronic media. Unfortunately, information and the availability of vaccines change very quickly and frequently nationwide, so for example newspaper announcements are often already late when they appear. Now it would be good to share the information with those close to you who need it. This is also a good place for young people to help relatives and friends, advises Kuitto.

Age is the most significant risk factor for severe corona disease

The risk groups are defined by the National Vaccine Expert Group KRAR and the National Institute of Health and Welfare (THL). In order for the vaccinations to proceed as quickly and flexibly as possible, THL has instructed that consecutive groups be vaccinated overlapping.

- Yes, we are asked why groups are vaccinated at the same time, but this is necessary for the smoothness of vaccination. With THL's instructions, the vaccinations of the next group can be started while the vaccinations of the previous one are still in progress, explains Kuitto.

When vaccination is offered to which group, not only the availability of vaccines, but also the protective effect and safety of the vaccine for different target groups, as well as the terms of the marketing authorization, for example, the age at which the vaccine can be given, are affected.

Corona vaccines are offered to people belonging to different groups according to the vaccination order. Once the vaccinations of a certain group have been started, they continue as long as there is a need for vaccinations. You can therefore receive the vaccination long after the first opportunity to receive the vaccination has come.

- Vaccines are viewed positively both nationally and in South Karelia. People's biggest concern seems to be where and when to get the vaccine. As the availability of vaccines improves, we will start wider mass vaccinations. Your own vaccination turn cannot be missed, because you can get the vaccine on the next group's turn, assures Kuitto.

Current vaccines

If more than one product is available for vaccination groups, you cannot choose the vaccine to be used. The same vaccine is used for the first and second vaccination.

  • Pfizer / BioNTech: we vaccinate people aged 16–64, 2 vaccinations (12 weeks apart)
  • Modern: we vaccinate people aged 18–64, 2 vaccinations (12 weeks apart)
  • AstraZeneca: we vaccinate people over 65, 2 vaccinations (12 weeks apart)

THL has decided that AstraZeneca's coronavirus vaccine will only be given to people over the age of 65. In accordance with the precautionary principle, AstraZeneca's vaccine is not given to those over the age of 65 who have previously suffered from sinus thrombosis, i.e. cerebral vein thrombosis, or heparin-related thrombocytopenia (HIT). Having previously suffered from a cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, or subdural effusion is not an obstacle to administering the vaccine. A previous pulmonary embolism or deep vein thrombosis, for example in the lower limbs, is also not an obstacle to vaccination.

You can book a corona vaccination appointment for the AstraZeneca vaccine if you are over 65 years old.

You can book a corona vaccination appointment for the Pfizer / Moderna vaccine if you belong to risk group 1 and are aged 16–64 or you belong to risk group 2 and are aged 50–65.

How do I book an appointment?

Go to eksote.fi and select "Get to know and log in" from the bar at the top of the front page under the heading "Eksoten asiointipalvelu". By clicking the "Get to know and log in" button, you will go to the home page of Eksoten's transaction service. Select "Log in to the transaction service" at the top of the page. Log in. The service requires strong identification and you can do it with your online banking credentials, for example. Select Appointment and go to the appointment. In connection with the transition, the service performs a strong identification on your behalf, which you accept by clicking "Continue to the service".

If there are no bookable appointments visible in the appointment booking system, there are no vaccines available. You can't make an appointment from the phone service either. Try again later.

If you can't book an appointment via electronic transaction, you can also book an appointment by phone if necessary. Appointments for corona vaccinations can be made by phone on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 16 p.m. by calling 05 352 2355.

Eksoten's transaction service may become congested from time to time, making the appointment impossible or the service works slowly. Please try again after a while.

- The appointment number is sometimes busy. If possible, we advise customers to make use of electronic transactions, where available vaccination times are displayed in real time. If the use of electronic transactions is not successful for the customer himself, relatives could now be of help, advises Kuitto.

Booked times are displayed in Eksoten's transaction service. You can cancel the booked time through the transaction service and then book a suitable new time.
