In Bearukalli, the tightness of the sewers is investigated with smoke tests

Release
9.4.2021 14:10
The examinations will be conducted from 13.4. to 16.4.2021 between 8.00:16.00 a.m. and XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.

In the Karhukallio residential area, the tightness of the drains and possible pipeline leaks are measured in connection with the regional renovation of the city of Imatra.

During the experiment, smoke is emitted from the ventilation pipes of the sewers on the roofs of the buildings and, for example, from the covers of the inspection wells of the sewers. The smoke is harmless and does not stain surfaces. The smoke dissipates in a few minutes.

We ask the residents to make sure that there is water in all floor wells and that there is water in the water locks of any unused sinks. Water locks can be filled by pouring water into the sink for about 10 seconds. If the water trap is dry, smoke can enter the apartment through it. If, despite this, smoke comes into the apartment, it is usually a sign of damage to the sewer pipes, says the sewer maintenance foreman Mika Ruuskanen From L&T Teollisuuspalvelut Oy.

Pets must be kept on a leash so that the experimenters can visit the yard if necessary. There is no need to enter the buildings.

Paper notices will be distributed to the residents of the area on Friday afternoon.

The research is carried out by L&T Teollisuuspalvelut Oy.
