The artwork for Koski's school center is ready

The construction work of the school center has progressed on schedule. The interior will be handed over to the city at the end of May, the construction of the courtyard will continue in the summer.

Artist Zindy Vähäkankaan designed work Fortitudo has been completed on the wall of Koski's new school building.

The work is made of brushed stainless steel and depicts the dam and power of Imatrankoski.

- The lighting is still missing, but otherwise the work is now ready, Vähäkangas says.

Thanks to the stainless steel, the work adapts to its surroundings.

- For example, in sunny weather, the light reflects off it in a completely different way than in cloudy weather.

The city of Imatra has acquired percentage art for every new school center.

Some of the new facilities have already been completed

The construction work of the Koski school center has progressed on schedule. Some of the premises of the new building have already been completed, some are still in progress.

- We are currently testing the equipment. The last pieces of furniture will probably be put in place next week and after that we will be able to finish the rest of the premises, the foreman in charge of the construction site Petri Liukkonen It tells about Evälahti Oy.

The interior will be handed over to the city by the end of May. The construction of the yard areas will continue until mid-July.

School attendance in the new building will begin in August 2021.
