The mask recommendation at Imatra extends to third-grade students and older

The corona team of the city of Imatra decided on Thursday that from next Monday, 29.3. starting in elementary schools, a strong mask recommendation is valid from the third grade upwards. Previously, masks were worn by 12-year-olds and older.

In Lappeenranta, a mask recommendation was also given on Wednesday 1-2. classes, but Imatra considered that there is no need to extend the mask recommendation to smaller students in Imatra's situation.

Masks have already been used in school transport before. Smaller masks are available for children.

Activities in schools are being modified further to combat the epidemic.

─ In the future, all elementary schools will study under the guidance of their own class teacher in each subject. For example, language teaching is delivered remotely to the students, and in the classroom, close support is provided by the own teacher in these situations as well or the instructor,  Head principal of basic education at Mansikkala school center Lasse Tiilikka says.

From Monday, school club activities will also be suspended on April 11.4. until. Afternoon clubs still continue to operate.

Sports facilities closed, library open

─ We are waiting for AVI's next decision and will act according to it regarding the continuation, states the head of welfare services Arja Kujala.

The libraries will continue to operate, but in these premises it is hoped to follow the strong mask recommendation, to do business quickly and to use automatic lending whenever possible. Libraries may have a maximum of 10 people, including staff.

The music academy will mainly move to distance lessons in individual teaching as well. The college informs students directly.

Regarding the theater, the city is waiting for AVI's official decision on the April gathering restrictions. This means that the implementation possibilities of the spring show season have to be evaluated as a whole right from the beginning of the week.

─ According to experts, Imatra may have more coronavirus than we know. That's why everyone should now bear their responsibility, Deputy Mayor Kaisa Heino says.
