"The strong recommendation is that clubs now put health first."

The county's corona situation has turned in an alarming direction. South Karelia will move to the section 58g area the day after tomorrow, Friday. According to current information, the tightened restrictions are valid until 31.3. until.

In accordance with the recommendations of the provincial situation picture group, Imatra will also tighten the recommendations on 19.3. from

Those born in 2007 and before outdoor group activities wind down. Already before, indoor training has been on hiatus for the age group in question.

Those born in 2008 and younger are allowed to continue practicing indoors and outdoors, but there can be a maximum of 10 people in the same indoor sports facility at a time. This means, for example, that previously there could be two groups of children training in the swimming hall, if the training was carried out in different pools. Now the maximum number of children in the entire hall is 10 people at a time. The same applies to the ice rink.

In accordance with the previous policy, the Ukonniemi arena is considered an outdoor space and two groups of children can practice there, with a maximum of 10 + 10 people.

─ It is a strong recommendation that clubs now put health first. We would like all indoor hobby activities and training to be managed remotely, head of wellness services Arja Kujala stress.

Until now, along with younger children's hobby groups, also professionally trained athletes have been allowed to continue training in the sports facilities of the city of Imatra.

─ The line is getting tighter in this regard as well. Only the athletes of the higher leagues and national teams, as outlined by the Olympic Committee, are allowed to continue training from Friday, Kujala states.

No quick change expected

A very rapid change for the better is unlikely.

─ It is very likely that, for example, the sports hall and the swimming hall will not open by Easter, Kujala predicts.

Libraries still have a maximum limit of 10 people. In libraries, it is hoped that things will be done quickly, and it would be good to prefer an automated system for borrowing, if at all possible.
