The soles of cross-country skiing tracks are now really hard
Just like on the streets, skiers are also tormented on the slopes.
- All the bottoms of the cross-country skiing tracks are now really hard around the city. They can't even be improved with a paver until more snow falls from the sky. You should be careful when skiing. In some places, the ground can already shine through, manager of sports facilities Kimmo Korhonen says.
Lammassaari's track is also icy. The ridge track of the sports field is closed for the time being due to water.
The slopes in the Ukonniemi area are in good skiing condition, on the other hand. The custodians of the track network can access them with a larger machine that can handle the tracks better.
You can skate in four places
The skating rinks have been repaired today, Thursday 4.3. Vuoksenniska rink and big ice, Tainionkoski rink, Imatrankoski sports field ice and Kostinpuisto ice.
- The ice of Linnala, Mikonpuisto and Meltola has melted so much that maintenance on them has been stopped this winter, says Korhonen.
When ice skating on Poruka, it's good to remember THL's recommendations and safety intervals.
