The last time Imatra publicly applied for mayor in 2017, there were 11 applicants.

The city opened the director search on 15.2. The applicant was expected to have a higher university degree, managerial experience, knowledge of the municipality and business life, strong networks and commitment to Imatra.

Tomorrow, Friday 5.3. the interview group for the director search meets to make guidelines about the continuation, i.e. who will be invited to the interview. The interview group consists of the presidium of the Imatra city council and the city board.

The decision on the election of the city manager is supposed to be made in the city council in April. An external personal evaluator is used as an aid in the recruitment process.

Tentatively, the city plans to organize an open online discussion through which the citizens can ask questions to the applicants selected for the final round.

The new mayor is expected to take office from the beginning of autumn 2021, at the latest at the beginning of September. Current mayor Kai Roslakka will take annual leave in the fall before retiring.
