The Regional Administration Agency and the provincial situational group have jointly agreed that a 6-person gathering restriction is recommended to be introduced in South Karelia on Wednesday, March 3.3.

The decision is based on the fact that the province has entered the spreading phase of the corona epidemic. The decision also affects public spaces.

─ This means that the sports facilities and museums of the city of Imatra will be closed to the public tomorrow, Wednesday. They will be opened to the public no earlier than March 29.3, the head of welfare services Arja Kujala says.

Indoor sports facilities only for children and professional athletes

Children born in 2008 and younger, as well as professional athletes, are allowed to use indoor sports facilities, for example swimming pools and city gymnasiums.

─ Clubs may continue their guided activities for children, but the group size in these groups may not exceed 10 people, Kujala states.

Children's hobby activities should be organized avoiding close contact, i.e. at safe distances of two meters. Groups must not mix.

Imatra has already been in contact with clubs that organize children's hobby activities in the city premises. Family exercise groups and family clubs are recommended to be discontinued.

Young people can continue their hobbies outside

In addition to children, those athletes whose training is professional can continue to train in the city facilities. The classification in this regard is the same as has already been the practice during the corona epidemic. The training of these athletes is always agreed separately with the city.

Children and young people born in 2001 and younger can continue group activities on the city's outdoor sports fields and limited areas. A maximum of 20 people may be present at UIko. Safety intervals and other recommendations must also be followed outdoors.

Group hobbies for people born in 2000 and older are not allowed in the city's facilities, either indoors or outdoors.

You can borrow from the libraries when the staff is there

Library lending activities are allowed when the staff is present. The main library's self-service hours and the self-service of the Rajapatsa and Vuoksenniska libraries will be discontinued.

The libraries are open as follows:

  • Main library: Mon–Fri 11–18
  • Rajapatsaa library: Mon–Tues 13–19, Wed and Fri 10–16
  • Vuoksenniska library: Mon and Wed 12–18, Thur–Fri 10–16

It is recommended to keep the visits short, no longer than 15 minutes. In libraries, you can borrow, return, make and pick up reservations and pay library fees.

Reading rooms and other gathering and working spaces are still out of use. The library also recommends looking for something to read, watch and listen to in the e-materials it offers.

Meetings online

The provincial situation group recommends online meetings. For example, moving city, company and club meetings completely online is strongly recommended.

There is a maximum limit of six people in local meetings.

The town hall's customer service is open, but there will be service from Wednesday 3.3. starting with one customer at a time.

Masks are still strongly recommended for everyone over the age of 12 in all public spaces and public transport.

It has already been announced that all middle school and high school students will transfer on March 8.3. from distance learning for three weeks. Early childhood education and elementary school students will continue as before.
