The co-educational high school will switch to alternating local and distance education

Release

All students receive weekly tutoring.

In Imatra's joint upper secondary school, a new term will start next Tuesday, alternating close-in and distance learning.

─ The rotation period lasts a week, starting on Wednesday and ending on Tuesday. This way, everyone gets face-to-face teaching every week. There are some exceptions at the end of the period to equalize the number of days ahead, principal Mika Strömberg says.

Alternation in local and distance education applies to students in the first and second year of upper secondary school. As a rule, matriculates are already on study leave. The second and third year students of the IB high school, on the other hand, are in contact education all the time.

15.3. – 22.3. all students are in distance education.

Students have been informed about the arrangements in more detail via Wilma.

If the corona situation gets worse, we are ready to switch to full-scale distance education with a very short notice, states Strömberg.

Meals at school for high school students in the coming days

The rotation arrangement was considered necessary for the progress of the studies. However, it makes organizing remote catering difficult.

─ The students of Imatra co-educational high school receive food at school on the days of close teaching, each 2-3 days a week. Remote food delivery cannot be organized for the time being, facilities and security manager Sami Turunen regrets.

With this arrangement, in terms of meals, we will proceed at least until the school's winter vacation week.
