South Karelia has reached the accelerating phase of the corona epidemic. This means changes to the functions of the city of Imatra as well.

Exote  announced the transition to the acceleration phase on Tuesday 1.12. after the meeting of the provincial covid group.

AVI already instructed on Monday that only necessary, public events can be organized, but even in those the maximum number of people is 50. That policy is now immediately tightened even more so that the maximum number is 3.12. i.e. 20 people from next Thursday. This maximum amount also applies to all hobby groups.

A maximum of 10 people may participate in private events.

Bigger changes are the transition of secondary education mainly to distance education. At Imatra's joint high school, students and staff will start distance learning on Monday, December 7.12. The high school will provide more information on the matter through Wilma in the coming days.

Restrictions on hobby and event activities

Already earlier today, the city has announced the cancellation of all Teatteri Imatra shows for the rest of the year. Accordingly, Kulttuuritalo Virtra's concerts have been canceled for the rest of the year.

In addition to the maximum group size, there will be restrictions on hobbies, so that at the end of the year, sports facilities in schools will no longer be used by clubs or other entities outside the school in hand.

The gathering of hobby groups over the age of 20 is also prohibited in all cultural and sports facilities in the city. Unfortunately, the gyms will also be closed, because they have not followed the corona instructions as expected in the past, the head of welfare services Arja Kujala says.
